Lions Roard d Tigers Out

Once d lions have defeated the tigers at the national stadium last night. It was a 3 hr match and it was certainly worth-while. More than 55 k of Singaporeans were at the stadium cheering out loud for the lions. Though I was not one of them, I could feel the impact the crowd had put. They were like the 12th men on field.

In the beginning of the match, it seems like the lions were dominating. But there were times when my heart nearly stop for a nanosecond when the Malaysian nearly had d ball in. Especially at d 36th min. And also the most unexpected tradegy at the 57th min when d Malaysian had actually scored. If you ask me, I’ll tell you that they didn’t scored. Why u may ask. That’s because I feel that goal was a alm given by Lionel Louis. If he had caught firmly of the ball, the final scored after 90 mins wld be 1-0. So Eddy, you can stop being so happy cuz it’s not a great shot of urs!..

But that didn’t stop the Singapore crowd to lose their enthu. They kept the spirit alive hoping the d lions wld equalize. And yes they did at 75th min in came a goal by Ridhuan and that made the crowd go wild. Wild it was over there, havoc and happiness it was at home.

So as we all were waiting for the extra time to come, we were already predicting the penalty takers. Also engrossing ourselves with the match overall view. Seems that the match was going rough. Especially at a certain point of time, certain 2 players was ruffling with each other to get the ball but it seems that d ball hardly move. Yup comedy action it was. In the end, It ended up as a corner-kick. I dare say that the Malaysian defence were really good. Also I seem to hate Bennett from the Lions cuz whenever he makes a power shot towards the goal post, it always ends up flying way over the goal post.

The next 30 mins extra time was as normal as those of the 90 mins. And yes, as we predicted, the penalty was up next. It was one of the most unbalanced moments in a Singaporean life. Clearly those 2 teams were good. But in terms of a better goal-keeper, Lionel was the best given his expertise and height of course.

For the penalty it was a 5-4 score. Thanks to Lionel who saved that one last goal. So basically he has let in 1 goal and saved another so accounts are cleared. hehe..

So the match has ended well and has certainly made my night. For me, I was beaming the whole night. It was really a match that I enjoyed. But I do think of how my cuzzies in Malaysia wld react. Hmm.. At most they’ll be cursing Singapore downright. Haha.

Sometimes I imagine the players running on the field with the whole of Singapore on top of their heads. It’s like a burden to them. Whatever they do, Singapore wld be close contact to them. They win, Singapore will love them to d core. They lose, Singapore will critisie them sayin they spent so much money on them yet this is what we get. But still, one thing I do admire is that, the spirit and enthu by the crowd last night was juz like the old days at d padang. It’s like dejavu. So you see, us Singaporeans may be kiasu lah, kanjong lah and our singlish may be the best in da world but nothing beats to the spirits that come together in times of crisies and in football.

So before I end, I wld like to thank the Singapore team for doin a great job even when Singapore pride and glory became a burden to them and also my mum who supported Malaysia all the way. And you noe what, she even said that she’ll invite all “her” Malaysian boys at d field to her hse to eat bee hoon goring which she had juz cook for d family. She even asked me to go down buy syrup. I was like, in ur dreams mumzie.. lol… So Mum, juz wanna say that no matter what, Singapore is the best and will always beat Malaysia anytime, anyplace. Tell that to your Mahathir also will ya.. hehe..

PS: die, now surely cannot go Malaysia.. hehe..
